Musical Director

Marilyn Boulton

Marilyn was born and grew up in Kent. She studied the piano and violin at the Royal College of Music, London, winning prizes. She pursued a career as pianist, accompanist and teacher, before teaching music in schools. She conducted Kent Youth Choir and Fort Pitt Girls’ choir, travelling to France, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Russia.

In 1990 she moved to Scotland to take up the position of Director of Music at St Leonards School, St Andrews, where she remained for sixteen years. During this time, she also conducted the student symphony orchestra at the University of St Andrews, as well as the student chamber choir. After leaving St Leonards she taught piano students at the university, as well as accompanying music students in exams and public recitals. During this time, she was also rehearsal pianist for St Andrews Chorus.

She began playing the harp as a hobby and was soon engaged to play for weddings and corporate events, even playing on the Britannia, at Hopetoun House, the Balmoral and Old Course hotels.

She took up the post of musical director of EFMVC ten years ago and absolutely loves it!
